FOREVER

For better or for worse
humanity might worship
the entire universe

The earth the moon the sun
the same matter as we are
knowing we are as any star

We are born we live we die
eventually once passed away
to join within the milky way

What better way for eternity
to be among the blazing stars
in our heaven forever and a day

SUCKED IN

Should a black hole
materialize within my space
only a physcist might notice
being drawn into the epicenter

As yet I have not found
myself upon looking back
to find my own self
following close behind

Nor do I expect to find
I'm in two different worlds
regardless of quantum theory
and multiple universes

Or even finding two of my
same selves occupying
separate states of mind
simultaneously

MAN'S BEST FRIEND

Marry and Adam
long term friends
when married
ten years ago

They had no children
none in the basket
none in the crib
Marry loved Adam

A modern couple
both employed
responsible positions
money no object

Each their own
relatively new vehicle
a mortgaged home
a thirty year loan

They share friends
who considered them
an ideal couple
best of companions

well until one day
Marry home early
and unexpectedly
found Adam and Daisy

Daisy the family
female pet pit bull
involved with Adam
in the back yard

She had entered
their lovely home
seeking her loving
faithful spouse

She by chance
happened to glance out
the kitchen window
into the backyard

Behold there she beheld
her loving husband
with his trousers
below half mast

Enthusiastically
two blocking
the affectionate Daisy
their pet pit bull

But husband
and the pit bull
oblivious to the world
and to Marry

Marry horrified
by what she spied
angered as hell
pulled out her cell

Photographed
the lurid activity
as she placed
a local call

The police cam
finding Adam
still actively
engaged with Daisy

So the police
led Adam away
to the confines
of a comfortable cell

Daisy was adopted
by a kindly family
who promised
not to abuse her

Adam and Marry
have parted ways
now members
of a local legend

but a true story

SYMBIONTS

Few of us
will ever be
astronauts
however
all of us
are symbionts

So let us toast
our selves as host
as a specie
that shares
within us
other specie
in all of us
on us and in us

Dedicated to doctors and dentists
who prefer patients over clients

THINK AGAIN

If you think
that what you say
doesn't matter
think again

If you think
it doesn't matter
how you hurt another
think again

If you think
not paying taxes
when the collector is lax
think again

If you think
that another war
is just a mighty bore
think again

Yes my friend
just think again
when another war
lies just outside your door

If you think
that what you do
doesn't matter too
think again

AS ONE

I affirm life
I am of oneness
among the multitude
as countless as the stars

The multitude
mingles within me
as I shall mingle
with all the multitudes
that lie before me

I shall be there
unknowing and unknown
among the darkness
and the vastness
of time and space

I fear not the aloneness
for I and the multitude
shall forever be as one

YET WORLDS APART

The alchemy of our day
can not solve
the parallelisms
of our world
a moment or an infinity
away

We reach
acoss the chasm
and find each incarnate
yet some element
of mind
steps to one side

Observes
and quantifies
each verbal connotation
each emotion
balancing the separateness
each would hide

There is no touch stone
but love alone
that sparks alive
a consciousness of mind
that knows though worlds apart
there is no separateness
as the lowly and sublime
we are but one
that sparks alive

MOVING ON

There are no jack assess
nor elephants on my shelves

Once when young I was offered
the occupation of caregiver
of elephants I declined

Being a member of current society
at any level was circus enough

So I continued down life's highway
garnering about me what it was
I would haphazardly become

Without guilt or anxiety
at least for no longer than
it took to consider the consequence
and possibilities then moved on

As an elder I seldom consider
donkeys or elephants as relevant
to my diminishing existence

Within my own personal fantasies
I allow the world out there
to either screw up or take care of itself

There are at least times I pretend
that I really do not care
about those who die from constant
conflicts and forever unending war

AN IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

The conception of gods
can have been but the
immaculate conceptions
by the imaginations
of the less than immaculate

COLOR

There is no color
of human kind
I could not love
or adore

Yet find among
any of them
ones I could
abhor

It's not the color
of their skins
but what lies within
that should matter
to any one else
of any color

Worthy beauty
lies always within
below the color
of one's skin

DAILY NEWS

I search the news
to find some positive factor
if not then some minute
new found additional fact

Found three items

The two moons of pluto
to be confirmed shortly
in terms of light years
from earth

Four giant galaxies
found colliding
no immediate threat
to earth

A gigantic black hole
ravenously ingesting
our galaxy of stars
and eventually
earth

DR. Einstein

Albert Einstein's stated view
in a letter to a friend he knew
that all religion was childish
nonsense legend just rubbish
which he abandoned in childhood
as any thinking adult surely should

MY LIFE

At fifteen I felt trapped
by the atmosphere
of a provincial family
and a small community
both poor

Where did not matter
one country to another
one ship to another

From the Great Lakes
to the Pacific
moving west then east
north to south

One school to another
one state to another
then west again

From one wife to another
then a third
all left behind

Moving on
this city that city
each place a home

Until dissatisfaction
moves in
and I move on

I am still moving on
preparing for that
last move

SURVIVAL

The beauty of butterflies
or of any spring flower
is in no way diminished
knowing that it will perish

Just as eventually as I
and all living this day
including trees and butterflies
will fall to our demise

Each element of that which dies
wonderfully survives
incorporated in new lives
such as trees and butterflies

ALL AMERICAN

American first
regardless of ancestry
craft or profession
gay or straight
or in between
right wrong or left
regardless of accent
pimp cop or prostitute
poor or rich
bastard or bitch

American first
under imperfection
under conflict
under inequities
under inequalities
but striving
to lessen negatives
to promote positives
to have hope
to be a refuge
to have opportunities

American first
to love and protest
without violence
or expect justice
to protest with hope
that change is possible
that good karma
shall overcome bad
that better days
are always possible
that one can move
from one's environment
to go west or east again

American first
regardless of color
or origin
to know for certain
that ingenuity
and hard work
and perseverance
that accumulations
and a better life
are possibilities
not guaranteed
but possible for many

American first
where technology
where knowledge
where information
is as a great flood
most ubiquitous
demanding imagination
and ingenuity
capital lubricated
to be implemented
to be expanded
everywhere as tools
to be applied
to the betterment
of self and environment

American first
as a place to dream
a hope to overcome
a vision to expand
room for every one
to reach toward
the farthest star
or explore
the deepest depth
or of inner self
or to be the most
of outer self and free

American first
to dream
the American dream
of democracy
from sea to sea
where all in unity
where all humanity
may be the most
that they may be
not limited by church
or government decree

TWO SKULLS

High I climbed
by the breaking sea
that roared upon crags below
high I climbed
seeking the skulls
of men for ornaments

I found a sepulcher
a huge hewn rock
and not knowing why
I turned and sought
the skulls of other men

I found two skeletons
within a cave of death
and claimed their heads
my own for use
as ornaments

I set
these smiling skulls
upon two rocks to bleach
and often I wonder
if they are still
grinning there

A PIN POINT

Earth while dead or alive
shall be your only home
that you can call your own

Until we inhabit the moon
perhaps even mars
or further still the stars
until some distant time

The vast universe
may turn into reverse
and change all we know to be
into a pin point of energy

NO MIND

Nature does not know itself
and it does not care
it does not think at all

For nature does not have
the where with all to think
It has no purpose to be

Only the purpose we assign
erroneously for it has no care
no wish no goal but just to be

It has no care no mind
to be concerned with itself
or with the likes of us

POTENTIAL CORRESPONDENT

I am
while time allows
alien of orientation
an unbelief
or a different dimension
a third ear

Should you wish ever
of a warped a skewed view
an eccentric
friend

Here until then
should the urge move you
to take up
a pen

SYNCHRONICITY

There is no good
nor bad luck
there is no luck
at all

Only coincidence
the coincidence
of being
in the wrong
or the right place
during an occurrence
that may do you
good or ill

In most situations
look both ways
before you leap
or invest your funds

If you collide
with a locomotive
it is no luck at all
only lack of attention

Timing it is said
to be everything

CELLULAR EXCHANGE

The matter that was you
of your yesterday
is not the matter of you
as you are today

But even so the memory
of your long yesterdays
have not changed materially
from those you hold today

If all the matter of yesterday
that were you has changed
how is it that your memory
of old has been retained
