OF GREAT CONCERN

Oh! humankind
disturbed to find
he has left it up
and she has left it down
has it not occured to mind
that she could leave it up
and he could leave it down
in order that they might find
a lasting peace of mind

The great debate
as of this late
is as to whether
the toilet paper
should go over
or under the roller

IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

I dream the seemingly impossible
that war shall be no more
while war wages on

I dream with diminishing hope
that nations shall no more
produce weaponry of war

I dream of a hopeful possible time
when no nation shall violate
even one life of any citizen

I dream of such a future as when
compassion shall rule over greed
when the least shall be no less
than the greatest of these

I dream admittedly it must seem
the most impossible dream
when religion is separate
from each governed state
